One Month

Can you believe Brendan is already one month old? As every good first time mommy should, I took him to Babies R Us to have his one month old pictures taken. They turned out great but next time we will be taking pictures at Walmart because they were not cheap! Here are the pics:

Aren't they adorable?! I love them. I was so proud of him for being so good. And those are my hands in the last picture. I think that's my favorite.

Oh, we took Brendan to the doctor this week cause he has a birthmark on his bottom that started bleeding. Not a big deal but now we have to put vaseline on it every time we change his diaper. They weighed him while we were there and he is now 7 lbs, 15 ozs which puts him in the 11th percentile. So I think we'll be out of the newborn diapers soon. We've learned that Huggies newborn and Pampers newborn are two different sizes, lol (Huggies are bigger). We love Pampers!

We've noticed this past week that Brendan has new cries. He definitely has one for when he's mad. He also has a cute "pay attention to me" cry. I've also discovered that one of my favorite things is holding him on my shoulder because I can feel his breath on my cheek. Baby's breath is one of the sweetest things in the whole world.

That's it for now!

More pictures!

So here are some more great photos of the adorable new Bean. I even managed to upload a video! We ended up not going to the parade yesterday. I woke up feeling bad but I'm doing much better now. We went over to my parents house and watched fireworks on TV and outside. Other than that we don't have any exciting news right now. Enjoy the pictures!

About Brendan

Now that we've shown some pictures of him, I figured it was time to tell everyone about his personality a bit. Well, you already know that either he's impatient or likes to do things fast and in his own way since he came out in only 3 hours! That seems to have translated into things like
"I'm crying because I want to be fed now!" or "I don't care if it's midnight, I don't want to sleep right now." He is a very alert baby. He looks around all the time. He makes the cutest faces too. One time when my Dad was holding him he got this frown on his face and just stared at him like that for the longest time. Every once in a while Brendan will make a face that looks like he's saying "ooh!" with eyes opened really wide. He also yawns, sneezes, and hiccups. He's definitely a boy (and Brent says definitely my son) cause he's given us some very loud burps!

So now for stat updates. He was 7 lbs 1 oz and 20.5 inches in the hospital. His first doctor's visit (June 23rd) he was 6 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches. You read that correctly... either the hospital was too busy to measure correctly or our son shrunk in a few days time. Actually I heard a similar scenario from a lady at church except that her granddaughter gained 3 inches in the same amount of time, lol. So then this week's visit he was 7 lbs 3 oz and 19.25 inches. He also had to get his first prescription cause he has Conjuctivitis. The only thing we can figure is that he got it from the restaurant we went to last Friday night. But he has his gel and his eye looks much better.

Brendan made his first church appearance last night. There was a wedding shower for the wife-to-be of a guy who grew up in our church. I didn't bring Brendan with me and I didn't have any pictures with me either and all the ladies were very upset with me. So I had Brent drop him off on his way home from his parents house. Everyone loved him, of course. I've been nervous to bring him for a service cause of all the germs he'll come in contact with. The doctor made me nervous about that at the first appointment because of the Group B Strep stuff. The doc said if Brendan runs a fever they'll probably send him to the hospital because of it. So as hard as it's been, I'm trying to limit exposure.

That being said, we're taking Brendan to his first 4th of July parade tomorrow! I'm so excited. We bought some baby sunscreen at Walmart the other day. We told my Mom about it and I said, it's even a spray and it's tear free. She immediately said, "Don't spray it in his face!". I rolled my eyes and said, "Like I would do that!".

We have been having lots of fun with Prince Brendan (Prince is what his name means in Welsh) in between our sometimes rough nights. He is too adorable. I'll try to log on later tonight to add more pictures!
